And this why we need true friends. We need friends that will encourage and refresh us in the times when we’re down. We need friends who will be loyal to us, people whom we can depend on. We need friends that will never give up on us no matter how bad our circumstances are, who will search us out and never abandon us. But more importantly, this afternoon, we were encouraged to become that friend to other people: that friend who refreshes, who is loyal and who does not easily let friends go.“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” – John 15:13 (NIV)Jesus is our forever friend and as His friends, we should follow His example as we also lay down our lives for other people.
