Listen "Knowing When to Pivot in Your Career Journey Part 1"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode of Designing Futures, three Australian architects and designers discuss the life-changing left turns they have taken in their careers. Part one sees our 30UNDER30 host Nicole Tan, an associate at HDR, ask guests how they found the courage to pivot and whether there is such a thing as an absolute right or wrong decision. Guests include 30UNDER30 mentor Ninotschka Titchkosky, former co-CEO of BVN who left in 2024 after 23 years at the practice; Rosie Morley, a principal at Hassell and regular guest on design programs on TV; and Kate Frear, co-founder of The Advisory Studio, a consultancy firm that aims to uncloak the architecture and design process for clients who might not be well-versed in the industry. They talk about the fear of change versus the fear of settling, finding delight in diversion, the importance of widening your lens early, and when to block out the noise of other people’s opinions.
