Get in touch!It is our pleasure to share with you a podcast that was recorded by our partner in the United States, Peter Bella, designer, lecturer and host of the Design Dedux podcast.Meaghan Dee is both a practicing graphic designer and a design educator. Currently, Meaghan serves as Chair for the Graphic Design program at Virginia Tech and as Co-Chair of the AIGA Design Educators Community (AIGA DEC) Executive Board. Meaghan received her Bachelors at University of Illinois, with a focus in Graphic Design, and a Masters of Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University, with a focus in Visual Communication Design.Prior to joining Virginia Tech, Meaghan worked professionally as a designer for the Architecture and Design firm, Marnell Companies, where I regularly worked with Architects, Interior Designers, and Industrial Designers on large-scale resorts. Meaghan specialises in design and systems thinking, typography, branding, user-experience design, cross-media design, packaging, and editorial design, but she loves learning new methodologies and finding ways to incorporate them into my classroom. I’ve experimented with many different materials and methods, such as taking my typographic studies into the realms of motion design, AR, and Processing. Regardless of the final output, I emphasize core values, process, and design thinking.Her work has been awarded nationally and internationally by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA), Graphic Design U.S.A., Graphis, Hiii Typography, HOW Magazine, Indigo Design Awards, Print Magazine, the United Design Alliance, and the University & College Designers Association (UCDA).Meena Khalili is a professor of design and interaction, who makes daily drawings of things. She is an artist who uses design as a strategy for creation, and a designer who brings artistic methods to her solutions.A native of Washington, D.C. and Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina School of Visual Art + Design, Meena holds a BFA in Illustration and an MFA in Visual Communication + Graphic Design from VCUarts. She currently serves on the AIGA Design Educators Community National Steering Committee.Khalili is the recipient of the 2019 National Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement in Graphic Design by the Southeastern College Art Conference.
