Listen "Awakening the African Consciousness with Siseko Kumalo"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode I am joined by Siseko Kumalo, who is an academic, published writer, PhD candidate at the University of Pretoria, and the former editor-in-chief at the Journal of Decolonising Disciplines. Kumalo joins me for a conversation on decolonisation. For many decades, Africa's identity had been determined, through oppressive techniques, by eurocentric ideals. In the past couple of decades, there has been a concentrated effort to address these injustices of the past, and from there, re-establish the African identity. As a new generation takes center stage, be it politically, commercially, or as parents, we are presented with the opportunity to take part in reconstructing the African identity. The intention of this episode is to bring clarity to what is meant by decolonisation, and what roles there are to play in this endeavour.Siseko Kumalo's Information:Twitter: http://twitter.com/KumaloProf Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/prof_kumalo/Siseko's Academic Information: https://up-za.academia.edu/SisekoKumalo/CurriculumVitaeSiseko's TED Talk on Decolonisation of Education: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrSEmFumT0g&ab_channel=UniversityofPretoriaPodcast Socials:Twitter: https://twitter.com/DaringGreatlyPCInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/daringmediaza/[email protected] Tshepo Mantje's Socials:Twitter: https://twitter.com/TshepoMantjeInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/tshepomantje/[email protected] the show
