Today I saw an image of a megaphone which brings to mind British writer and theologian C. S. Lewis's comment that God "shouts in our pain: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world". God does not give us pain but I believe that CSLewis is telling us that if we don't listen to God and don't feel our need for Him when all is going smoothly in our lives, then pain is God's way of really trying to get our attention, reminding us that we need Him not only in our pain but in our lives in general and to save us from a life that ends in death. He gives us abundant life now, which goes on into eternal life. Jesus, as the face of God whilst on earth, informs us of this. (John 10:10; 28). God really wants to get this Truth across to us.
