Amit and Sunny review Jordan Peele’s latest sci-fi, horror blockbuster, Nope. We discuss the film’s awe-inspiring cinematography, it’s unique take on an alien threat, standout performances from Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, and Peele’s masterful direction that keeps the audience mesmerised while also subverting their expectations. This might not be Peele’s best work, but Nope finds ways to stay with you, from its scenes of chimp-fuelled violence and late night horsing around to the disturbing fate of Jupe and his enthralled audience. As always, Peele also puts a mirror to society, highlighting our perverse obsession with viewing and profiting from tragic spectacles and our futile attempts to control the uncontrollable.
