Episode Synopsis
Matthew 18: 1-14Pastor Willie Behrends On this Mother’s Day we see Jesus teaching His disciples some of the same things that many of our mothers have been saying for years! Here are three lessons a good mother teaches… I – There’s value in ____________________! (1-4) II – Protect those who are __________________! (5-9) III – Go after those who are ________ ______________! (10-14) Today’s ‘Take-Aways.’ Ask Yourself…1. “How _____________ - _____________ am I?”2. “What do I need to ________ ________ of my life?”3. “How do I treat those who ______________________?” NEXT WEEK: Speak Now, or Forever Hold a Grudge! Matthew 18:15-20 Pastor Willie preaches from the English Standard Version Bible (ESV) ©2001 LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS…‘Getting to know you…’As a child, what did you do that typically got you into the most trouble, and how did your mom, (or guardian, caregiver, etc.) respond? Read Matthew 18:1-14 (Questions based on the English Standard Version© (ESV) Bible, 2001) Questions…1. Read verses 1-4. What do you think was behind the disciples’ question to Jesus in verse 1? Describe what you think it actually looks like when we ‘…turn and become like children’ (v. 3)? 2. Read verses 5-9. Why do you think Jesus gives such a strong warning about causing ‘little ones’ to sin? Can you think of some ways we might, (even unintentionally) cause those who are young in their faith to stumble? 3. In verses 10-14 Jesus gives the Parable of the Lost, (or Wandering) Sheep. What things does it teach us about God’s will (and attitude) toward the ‘little ones?’ Have YOU ever felt like the ‘one who went astray?’ How did God go after you? GROW…In what area of your life do you need to ‘become like a child’ again; trusting God more simply and completely? Is there anything in your lifestyle, speech, or influence that might be a stumbling block to others? How can you guard against that? GO…Is there someone in Your World who needs encouragement right now? Something along the lines of a call, a visit, or maybe just a reminder that God sees them and loves them? Why not follow-up with them this week?Pray for each other as you go to Your Worlds this week.
