Listen "What Kinds of Communication to Use in Specific Environments?"

Episode Synopsis

How do you communicate with your friends vs communicating with a coworker or a professor?
In our everyday world we tend to communicate with many people. Our uses of communication can change depending on who we’re communicating with and the type of situation we’re in. Many ways people use communication in different environments include appropriately matching how to communicate within the certain circumstances for example in areas such as the workplace or in areas such as being at home. According to a scholarly article called “Workplace Communication” posted in 2016, states that usually in the workplace, people tend to use interpersonal communication with coworkers and with interpersonal communication, it helps build relationships in the workplace. Another article I found that relates to the topic of appropriate communication in a type of setting includes an article called “Developing Effective Communication Skills” published in 2007. This article states the importance of communication skills needed within the workplace to meet certain communication requirements, for example some set skills help people become more formal with their coworkers and higher professionals within the workplace. Formal communication and informal communication are very different. Informal communication settings include a more easygoing type of environment where it feels much more comfortable. With informal communication, it is typically communicating with your friends or family. For formal communication settings, it is a more professional and serious type of environment. With formal communication, it may require upright communication skills and adequate body language.
