Not because of something you did to deserve it, but to bring you to a place of dependence on God to get you through it. It's important to look for God's guidance and wisdom in hard times and in the good times. The suffering you go through is an opportunity to grow closer to God and to trust Him more. There's nothing that can come against you that God isn't powerful enough to get you through. You have to keep your heart on Him.
