His passion is just the beginning of what motivates him to work in this field. This Week's Cocktail: Sparkling Grapefruit Soda with Gin This week's cocktail is a refreshing combination of sparkling grapefruit soda with gin. The tangy sweetness of the grapefruit soda perfectly complements the botanical notes of the gin, creating a perfect summer drink. 1/2 cup of granulated sugar1/2 cup of waterGrapefruit zest2 oz. of fresh grapefruit juiceJuice of 1 lime1.5 oz. of ginTop with sparkling grapefruit soda or club sodaIceLime wedges and grapefruit wedges for garnishSteps:Combine the granulated sugar, water, grapefruit zest, grapefruit juice and lime juice in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Whisk the mixture until the sugar has dissolved.Strain the simple syrup through a fine mesh sieve and set aside.Fill one cocktail glass with ice. Add a shot of gin followed by a shot of the simple syrup. Fill the glass with sparkling grapefruit soda and garnish with lime and grapefruit wedge. Serve and enjoy.
