Listen "Midwest Simon Says Services In Clare "Full" Amid Winter Homelessness Surge"
Episode Synopsis
Midwest Simon says it's trying to find space for as many people in Clare as possible this winter but admits its accommodation here is at full capacity. The latest Department of Housing figures show 171 families were residing in emergency accommodation in this region in October, showing a rise of 34% in the last year. A total of 85 adults were availing of homeless services in Clare in the month in question which is up from 76 a month ago. Midwest Simon CEO Niall Garvey has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons they've been forced to increase their capacity due to the surge in demand during the winter months.
