Episode Synopsis
A collaboration between CircleTales and Yalla Arts drama group
with Giorgia Ferrari, Maisaa Sweid, Valentina Todino, Marie Trinchant.
Rooted is a story created from playing CircleTales, a collaborative story-making game, played between four women who live in Exeter, UK who are originally from other countries (Italy, France, and Syria).
The story that emerged is truly a heroine's journey, and depicts the unfolding of a shared imaginative landscape. The story was further developed through a drama session with Yalla Arts in which we shared proverbs in the participants' own languages, explored the archetypes of fire, being in circle, nature, connection between women, and one of the participants, Valentina Todino, even created an original song which became the theme music for the piece.
