Listen "Evangelicalism and Abolitionism"
Episode Synopsis
Hello everyone! In this episode, we introduce some of the figures, works, and realities of early Evangelicalism’s relationship to slavery in the British Empire. While we must accept the hard truth that many theological heroes of Evangelicalism supported the evil of slavery, we must also complicate that picture: (1) while worthy of condemnation, we must understand the nuance of Evangelical support for slavery, (2) we must recognize that opposition to slavery in the British Empire largely came from Evangelicals informed by biblical convictions, and (3) we ought to appreciate the diverse, interdenominational Evangelical alliance that fought against the wickedness of slavery. This is a big topic, let me know what you think!Recommended Resources (check out the youtube page): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oJnG2VhqhEMy Twitter: https://twitter.com/Fordeheim My blog: https://chancery.home.blog/
