India was among the earliest countries to produce sugar from sugarcane. Today, sugarcane growing remains a vital source of income for people across this vast land. Traditionally, the work is hard and labor-intensive, and done mainly by women. In recent times, though, they have been receiving a helping hand from a specialist sugar institute, which teaches them smart farming techniques to increase sugar yields so as to easing their backbreaking labor.
