In a culture where religious traditions ran deep, Jesus showed up differently. The religious leaders had turned the Old Testament law into an idol, so when Jesus walked out his faith practice in a new way it created tension. The way of Jesus showed that the covenant laws of the Old Testament pointed people to the heart of God. Where the religious leaders had created a structure built on legalism, Jesus set the example of placing God in the center of our faith. The way of Jesus leads to the heart of the Father.
