Episode Synopsis
Discussion Questions
(Week commencing Sunday 14th June 2020)
Text: 1 Samuel 16:1-13
Where do you think low self-esteem comes from?
How does our culture contribute to our self-image?
What experiences have you had of forming a quick impression about someone (or something) based on first appearances, only to find out later that your first impression was wrong?
How important are our appearances?
In our culture we put a lot of emphasis on a person’s past record of behaviour in determining their future potential. To what extent is this fair or unfair?
How do you relate to the fact that David was left behind when his family went to meet with Samuel? From your personal experience, how might David have felt?
What is the difference between a healthy self-image (where we know God can/does use us) and being proud?
What are some practical ways that we can influence our culture towards looking upon people the way God does?
