Episode Synopsis
Send us a textEpisode Eleven America’s First Major DisasterIn this episode, Mr. Poe and George discuss America’s First Major Disaster - the Richmond Fire of 1811 in which over 70 of the most influential people (in a town of less than 10,000) died. Warning: The podcast's description of the fire is a bit intense. For example: The fire caused theatre goers to scream in agony. Some of them felt there was no foreseeable way out, and leaped out of the high windows. Initially some of the jumpers suffered broken bones almost instantaneously as they hit the hard ground, while others were crushed to death when other jumpers fell on them.Support the showThank you for experiencing Celebrate Creativity.
