Just as she graduated with a degree in mining engineering, the coal industry collapsed. Overnight, six years of hard studies at Karaganda Polytechnic Institute in Kazakhstan were useless. In this episode of Outside the Box, we meet Dana Minbaeva, Professor and Vice-President for International Affairs at CBS. Once, she speculated in currencies while learning English from scratch on a Walkman to afford and gain access to a better life.
