Robert J. "Bob" Muckle has been an archaeologist and educator in British Columbia for decades. His new book provides a comprehensive look at key archaeological sites in the province that illuminate thousands of years of history, and he takes time to define important terms and explain the evolution of archaeology in recent years, including working more closely with Indigenous peoples and BC's many First Nations. In our conversation, we go deep on a few particular stories, including ancient footprints along the BC coast, and very recent studies of "artifacts" left behind on the streets of Vancouver, BC during the COVID-19 pandemic.
