Randi serves as the president of AFT- formerly the American Federation of Teachers, now expanding their branding to reflect that they are the second largest nurses union as well as the second largest teacher's union and largest higher education union. She's here to talk about the state of public school in America in a bit of a Dickens' moment- the best of times, and the worst of times.



Today's Democracy in Action value is popular sovereignty. Popular sovereignty says that the power of a government comes from its people. Unions are vital in protecting laborers and advocating for workers so that each citizen can continue to participate in government.
