It annoys me when I get told I'm resilient. Why? Because a lot of my challenges were preventable: being sexualised - preventable, unconscious bias - preventable, sexism - preventable. 
Yes, we need to be resilient to overcome challenges, but when people are purposefully putting challenges in your way that are outside the scope of stretching your comfort zone for the purpose of learning and managing a normal range of human emotions, this is when congratulating you for being resilient is a distraction from solving the real problem.
