Listen "Episode 10: Four Years After Charlottesville"
Episode Synopsis
In August 2017, hundreds of white supremacists, including members of the KKK and neo-Nazis, descended upon the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, for a “Unite the Right” rally. The rally turned violent, and a white nationalist drove his car through the crowd, causing multiple injuries and the death of counter-protestor Heather Heyer. Since Charlottesville, there has been an array of conversations about how we hold domestic extremists accountable. In this episode, Kara Stein, ACS VP for Policy and Program, speaks with the legal team that has filed civil litigation in federal court to hold those responsible for the violence in Charlottesville accountable. They will discuss the legal claims involved and whether this litigation could be a model for holding extremists accountable going forward. ----------------- Join the Progressive Legal Movement Today: ACSLaw.org Today's Host: Kara Stein, Vice President of Policy and Program from ACS Today's Guest: Roberta Kaplan from Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP Today's Guest: Amy Spitalnick from Integrity First for America Visit the Podcast Website: Broken Law Podcast Email the Show: [email protected] Follow ACS on Social Media: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | LinkedIn | YouTube ----------------- Production House: Flint Stone Media Copyright of American Constitution Society 2021.Visit the Podcast Website: Broken Law Podcast Email the Show: [email protected] Follow ACS on Social Media: Facebook | Instagram | Bluesky | LinkedIn | YouTube -----------------Broken Law: About the law, who it serves, and who it doesn’t.----------------- Production House: Flint Stone Media Copyright of American Constitution Society 2025.
