In life, we hope to be passionate about what we do. Integrity tells us to do well, take pride in our work, provide for our loved ones. But what happens when you achieve high levels of success, but do so at the sacrifice of that integrity? What do you do when your passion begins to wane, and what you thought had filled you has left you empty inside?
Such was the case of my guest tonight, sports agent and subject of the DEBUT Disney Movie ,"Million Dollar Arm", J.B. Bernstein. Motivated by the success of the NBA's Yao Ming, he set off to India (with a population of over 1 Billion) to find a cricket player that threw hard enough to possibly play in the Major Leagues. He concocted this idea of a reality show to find athletes that could throw hard and wanted to try baseball; however, he was pursuing an idea for monetary gain in a country that didn't understand-or even know-the game of baseball!
Enter 2 young teenagers by the name of Rinku and Dinesh, two boys that threw 85+ mph, cricket players who couldn't speak a word of English. Within months of winning the contest and landing on US soil, they both signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates! With the help of next door neighbor Brenda, JB learned how to balance a blended family, what it means to have pride in your culture, and how fulfilling it can be to live your life to serve others! Hear about the amazing journey of Bernstein, played by Jon Hamm in "Million Dollar Arm"!
