Listen "Finding sunshine in the messy w/ multi-creative Mom Karaleigh Garrison"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode we’re talking with Karaleigh Garrison about motherhood, podcasting and finding sunshine and humor amidst the big challenges in life. Karaleigh Garrison is a Podcast Coach, Speaker, and Singer/Songwriter. She has a podcast and album that are both titled "Seeking Sunshine," inspired by her three amazing children who all have varying levels of special needs.
How we do one thing is how we do everything, right? Being an often overwhelmed Mom has helped her let go of perfectionism with creating and editing podcasts and producing music. She has now not only made “Seeking Sunshine” incredibly successful at over 100 episodes, but also recently launched her second podcast, called "Podcast Like A Mother," where she teaches how podcasting can be fun, easy, and sustainable. She is deeply passionate about inspiring others to do what lights them up because she knows that we are all better humans when our cups are full.
The pinnacle moment in this conversation is when Karaleigh shares about her son getting very sick and being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and how an unexpected benefit changed her perspective on what’s possible in life.
Here are my favorite takeaways from a life of chasing wild yet loveable kids away from cars, constantly messy bedrooms, building a creative career and other challenges Karaleigh has faced:
Do what lights you up and do it messy - having a ‘done’ list is much better than being perfectionist with an endless to-do list. Make it fun or it won’t happen.
Take a one-step-at-a-time approach to everything. We don’t need to map everything out from the onset, and trying to figure out multiple steps will hold us back.
We need to experience dark times to really find and appreciate the sunshine in life. Our best bet is to find creative ways to navigate the hardship and transform pain into beauty.
