Listen "The Need to Be Exceptional"
Episode Synopsis
Join Brandi Grayson to discuss the challenges and obstacles families face today. Discussions, guests, and interviews will focus on vulnerable populations--specifically Black families. We cover controversial topics, from religion to race and from relationships to policies to legislation. Join the finest hostess with the most-ess Brandi Grayson every week.
Brandi checks in with producer Luke on how this week is going, and they each share a bit about how they are showing up right now. Then, Brandi peels back the curtain to explain why herself and Urban Triage always need to be exceptional, not just exist in the spaces her and her organization exist within. She cannot just mail it in, but rather constantly be doing the work and be able to prove she is doing the work.
The show then shares clips of how similar instances can happen even to elected officials who show up in places that are not traditionally created for strong, black women, like Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX). Even she faces the institutions of white supremacy in her work in Congress. But its not just in Washington DC, it exists here in Madison, WI as well and Brandi breaks that down and shares the tea along with some local election results from this past week.
