Listen "Mass Shootings"
Episode Synopsis
We get raw and real as we try to process the events from last week. Trigger warning: we talk about not only the most recent shootings but take it back and talk about some school shootings as well.
In this episode we not only address the increase in gun violence but some of the root causes as well. We break the main four points of contention when discussing gun violence and suggest ways to overcome these issues.
It’s impossible when discussing gun violence to not debate gun control. We share our experiences and view points regarding our current regulations (or lack of) on gun ownership.
We next branch to the very hot topic of mental illness. We express the dangerous route that we are taking by associating violent criminal activity with the mental ill.
We share how these actions can hinder those with mental illness from seeking treatment.
Of course we would NOT be the BiracialUnicorns if we did not mention race. We share some stats regarding mass shootings with a racist motive (aka domestic terrorism).
Our final topic we share is the issue of rage. We discuss the correlation between male emotional suppression and gun violence.
If you have been affected by gun violence or are struggling to process the current events we here at Biracial Unicorns encourage you to reach out and seek help. Your mental health counts. Stay safe out there unicorns.
