Listen "Drowsy Jungle"
Episode Synopsis
This song was written in the Meantone 7 mode of 19EDO. 19EDO means an octave is divided into 19 notes instead of the standard 12. Unlike 'Alien planet', being in a standard 7 note scale made this so much easier to work with. If you weren't aware beforehand you probably wouldn't even recognise that the song is microtonal as the alternate tuning isn't as exaggerated as in 'Alien Planet' but the smaller degrees of micro-tonality give it a different sort of feeling than if it was in standard 12 tone tuning, it adds to the laid back vibe of the song and makes the notes feel that little bit sweeter. With this piece I also wanted it to have an EDM sound which is why the kick drum is has more presence than the other songs on the album.
