Once the violent mob is quiet, Paul tells them about his Jewish credentials and the miraculous light and voice he heard. They listen until he claims that God is sending him to the Gentiles. The commander then gives an order for Paul to be tortured, but Paul speaks up with information that makes the commander reconsider.
