Listen "Sthairyam | Words of Wisdom | Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha"

Episode Synopsis

Nutan Swamiji explains that Sthairyam is the quality of remaining on the path of auspiciousness without getting distracted or destabilized by anything. Generally, we feel small, constricted, selfish, etc., while the Ultimate is the Atma, which is all-pervading and universal. Therefore, we have to move from ignorance to knowledge by expanding; a feeling of expansion should adorn our mind and intelligence.

Swamiji says we can always know whether we are progressing or not ourselves. The thumb rule is that whatever we are doing, we should ask ourselves: Is it bringing weakness and constriction to the mind, or am I feeling liberal and expansive, feeling that everybody is my own? As we proceed this way, we become more and more stabilized on the path. The Sthairyam will come with the unfoldment of jnana.
