We are honoured and delighted to have an exceptional scientist in the realm of molecular virology and immunology, Prof. Arvind Sahu, Executive Director of the Regional Centre for Biotechnology, an institution at the forefront of biotechnological innovation in India. He served The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune as a Senior scientist.
Dr. Sahu's research primarily focuses on the intricate relationship between viruses and the immune system, particularly the complement system. Throughout his career, Dr. Sahu has received numerous accolades for his contributions to biomedical science. He was a Wellcome Trust Overseas Senior Fellow in Biomedical Science in India and is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, the Indian National Science Academy, and the Indian Academy of Sciences. He is also a member of prestigious organizations such as the International Complement Society, the American Association of Immunologists, the Molecular Immunology Forum, and the American Society for Microbiology.
Dr. Sahu's expertise extends beyond research, as he has been involved in patenting innovative solutions. Notably, he holds patents for peptides that inhibit complement activation (approved by US FDA) and a chimeric protein used in treating pathological conditions involving the complement system.
