Genesis 1:26-28 NLT 26
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
27 So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”
The kind of POWER God has in mind for this FIRST power couple is not a ‘masculine’ POWER but a masculine PLUS feminine, POWER. It is ONLY this kind of shared participation in representing God’s POWER that truly reflects the character and nature of GOD!
This FIRST POWER COUPLE were promised FRUITFULNESS, MULTIPLICATION, and AUTHORITY over all that was in their hand.... [THE SOURCE OF THIER POWER]
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.””
THE WORD HELPER - ezer is combined with the word kenegdo which means “a helper of the same nature,” Everything about this descriptor implies mutuality and harmony, it clearly demonstrates what the ideal relationship between a man and a woman might look like, It is the picture of a TRUE POWER PARTNERSHIP. [PROMISE] There is a promise in this Genesis story, for us as a husbands and wives, mums and dads sons and daughters.. .."When we chose to reflect God's ideal for our PARTNERSHIPS we can expect to see HIS POWER at work through THEM!!" [TENSION] What if our marriages, our partnerships, our family relationships don't look like this IDEAL that God is calling us into...???
