Be brave, determined! And do it!”Zechariah 4:6 NLT“Then he said to me, “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.”Zerrubabel was a builder….but before he began the work of building the HOUSE of God (for the second time) The prophet came and spoke this word to him….AND ...this is God’s word to His people today! Building Strong is NOT about STRENGTH…..it is not about getting stronger, trying harder, or being a better person….BUILDING STRONG is about BUILDING FAITHFULLY…..Faithfully doing the same, the same SMALL things, right things, over and over again, the unglamorous, the often uncelebrated things day after day, week after week and yer after year….THAT is what BUILDS a STRONG: marriage, family, financial world, business, leader, future, LIFE! IF Building Strong is NOT about STRENGTH…..IF it is not about getting stronger, trying harder, or being a better person….and it is ALL about BEINGFAITHFUL….Where does FAITHFULNESS come from? How do I DO FAITHFULNESS? Galatians 5:22-23 NLTBut the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!FAITHFULNESS = Fruit of the Spirit…Faithfulness is evidence that YOU have had an encounter with the HOLY SPIRIT!BUILDING STRONG BEGINS WITH AN ENCOUNTER WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD.Whenever God wants to BIULD something NEW into our lives…LIKE FAITHFULNESS ….He makes room for an introduction with the the Holy Spirit .... …because it is the fruit of that encounter that BUILDS our life….Let’s look at how the Holy Spirit wants to encounter us today…..by looking at the pattern, the theology of Holy Spirit encounters throughout the bible!An Encounter With The Spirit Of God Always:Creates Something New In UsGenesis 1:1-2 LBWhen God began creating the heavens and the earth, the earth was a shapeless, chaotic mass, with the Spirit of God brooding over the dark vapours.Today... God wants to step into your chaos..the emptiness you are feeling...and CREATE something new in you...God wants to create a new faithfulness in you today...What have you given up on? What has lost its shape in your life today..?The spirit of God is here....brooding... anticipating...planning...working in the background...Today is your day for an encounter with the Holy Spirit..an encounter that will create something NEW in you! 2. Changes Something About UsIn the Old Testament the Hebrew word for the Spirit of God is RUACH and in the New Testament the Greek word for the Holy Spirit is Pneuma, both of these words mean wind, or breath…..The Holy Spirit is always moving, at work, changes the atmosphere, changes lives, He will always move us, change us, shape us…whenever people encounter the Spirit of God, something SHIFTS in our lives!Romans 12:2 TPT “Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.”I wonder, how ready are you for the Spirit of God to shift something in your life today…to clean somehow out, to make room for the fruit of FAITHFULNESS, to BUILD STRONG in every area of your life?Professor, Theologian, N.T Wright says that “God longs to give the holy spirit to people, and that all we have to do is ask. What the spirit will do when he comes is anybody’s guess. Be prepared for wind and fire, for some fairly drastic spring cleaning of the dusty and cold rooms of one’s life. The Holy Spirit will transform you from a listless or lifeless believer into someone whose heart is on fire with the love of God." 3. Charges us with Supernatural PowerActs 1:8 TPTBut I promise you this—the Holy Spirit will come upon you and you will be seized with power. And you will be my messengers to Jerusalem, throughout Judea, the distant provinces—even to the remotest places on earth!”The encounter ALWAYS precedes the MISSION….because we need His power, before we serve His purpose…..Luke 24:49 NLT“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”Let’s not get it back to front, lets not BUILD STRONG, before we have the POWER of God to build FAITHFULLY, day after day, week after week, year after year…..Our first order of business is to surrendered our lives to Jesus….Jesus, this is my decisionToday I say yes to youYou died on the crossTo pay the price for my sin.I invite you to be my saviour.Come into my life.Forgive my sin.Fill me with the power of your holy spirit.AmenBefore Zerrubabel laid a single brick to ‘build strong’ to build the Holy House of God…..he had to have an encounter with the Spirit of God…this same principle applies to us today…PRAYER FOR Holy Spirit ENCOUNTER…let’s not lay another brick, build another moment of our lives, without an encounter with the Spirit of God.
