How does the relationship between a child and a parent help illustrate this idea that God knows what we need as humans and prunes what we don’t need? What are some things that have been “pruned” from your life that you saw as good but actually weren’t? 
What do you think Jesus meant in v7 when he says, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”? 
What does it look like to “abide in Jesus” and for your life to produce fruit?
