Listen "May 25 Worship"
Episode Synopsis
In this exploration of the rich young ruler's encounter with Jesus, we're challenged to examine our own relationship with wealth and possessions. The story, found in Luke 18, Matthew 19, and Mark 10, invites us to consider: Do we have our possessions, or do our possessions have us? We're reminded that while money itself isn't evil, our love for it can lead us astray from our faith and values. The message emphasizes the difference between 'good religion' that leads to compassion and love, and 'bad religion' that breeds division and self-righteousness. As we reflect on the ruler's question about inheriting eternal life, we're prompted to consider our own motivations in seeking salvation. Are we looking for a reward, or are we open to the transformative power of God's grace? This message encourages us to go beyond mere observation of religious rules and seek an internal transformation that manifests in love for God and neighbor.
