Listen "Music for the Mind: Felicity Liston's Journey"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode, Tabitha chats with Felicity Liston - a registered music therapist, flautist, and passionate advocate for the healing power of sound.Felicity’s journey began in Year 7 with a borrowed flute and a deep love for music that carried her through high school. But it was her studies in psychology that unlocked a new path - one that led her to music therapy, where she now helps others connect, heal, and grow through personalised musical experiences.A Ballarat Arts Foundation grant in 2015 allowed Felicity to purchase her own flute, a pivotal moment that affirmed her talent and set her on the path to becoming a teacher. In this conversation, we explore a common theme in this series - imposter syndrome - the importance of self-efficacy, and how even a change of scenery can reignite creativity. Felicity shares insights from her work at St John of God Hospital in Ballarat, her time at the University of Melbourne, and the quiet power of listening to your own rhythm.Let’s dive into the music, the mindset, and the moments that shaped Felicity’s journey.
