Grand pa Rahim is the eldest among the ALIMni 2019 Cohort. He is one of the founders of the earliest latino muslim communities in the east coast and in the country. He has been Muslim for over 46 years but had daunting questions to ask his scholarly colleagues at the ALIM program 2019. We ask him about his experience so far since the 60s, the question of an 'American Muslim' identity in the past and present as well as our "Muhammad Ali" question.
Rahim is a Puerto Rican New Yorker who has held positions such as the Guidance Council Member of the Islamic Party of North America, Copy/Contributing Editor for The Message magazine, and co-founder the now defunct Latino-based organization Alianza Islamica. He is currently in retirement, yet here for the 'longer run' of his life, ever energetic for the next "herculean" contribution for the sake of Allah.
