More than a title for the song, "Breaking Away" aptly describes Ava Lemert's new direction for her music making. In this song, she flexes her vocal, and production chops, "Breaking Away" from the misconception that she is simply a "jazz saxophonist." Ava also recorded, mixed, and mastered the song herself in her Citrus Heights studio, My Blue Heaven.
"Breaking Away" is a rather obscure song from 1981 by the band, Balance. Ava's version of the energetic, 80s rocker, has a bit faster tempo, great for exercising to, and six vocal harmonies, all sung by Ava herself! This is a new arrangement of a dusty gem from the days of leg warmers, and Miami Vice. It's both nostalgic, and refreshing with the "realness" of the soaring, powerful vocals by Ava Lemert.
