Listen "Trainspotting with Cassie"
Episode Synopsis
This week we review the 1996 British black comedy drama film Trainspotting directed by Danny Boyle, and starring Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Kevin McKidd, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Macdonald in her film debut.
Based on the 1993 novel by Irvine Welsh, the film follows a group of heroin addicts in an economically depressed area of Edinburgh and their passage through life.
Beyond drug addiction, other themes in the film include an exploration of the urban poverty and squalor in Edinburgh.
The Aussie is outnumbered this week as we welcome another Scotsperson to the studio.
Cassie - originally from Edinburgh, and a friend of both, joins the boys to discuss this incredible film.
We discuss all things Edinburgh as accents get stronger.
The Aussie wants to gloss over the erotic sections of the movie while the Scotsman wants detail. Cassie sorts the boys out and keeps them in check and brings some well needed intellect to the podcast.
The Scotsman and Cassie reminisce about 90's Scotland. Some of it is not pretty. There is a dark and grim side to Scotland and this movie tells that tale.
Cassie brings a prop to the podcast. That's a first in our podcast forum. Tune in to find out what it is and stick around for the bonus podcast where Cassie and the Scotsman test the Aussie's knowledge of some classic Scottish words.
