Listen "Projections"
Episode Synopsis
Founded in 2004 by Steve Bug, the young label Audiomatique was proud to present its first album CD: Audiomatique Volume 1.0. Initially launched as a side label to the seminal Poker Flat Recordings, and as a platform for music that didn’t quite fit Poker Flat or Dessous, Audiomatique was conceived as a playground for modern Techno and House in the broadest sense. Not long after, the fledgling imprint began to shape a signature sound of its own.
The first album on Audiomatique featured an exciting turntable mix by Triple-O Martinez, who curated highlights from Trentemøller, Rob Acid, Mark (O'Sullivan, DK7) and John (Dahlbäck), and Jussi-Pekka, alongside no fewer than six tracks produced exclusively for this release by Martinez, Adultnapper, Alexi Delano and Fernando Gullon, Huggotron (aka John Dahlbäck), and newcomers Faktor-X and CDjjj.
The vinyl release was split across two separate 12”s. AM09 marked the first part, Volume 1.1, and included three exclusive tracks by newcomer Faktor-X, Adultnapper, and Martinez. Faktor-X, the alias of Deak Laslo from near Vojvodina, Serbia and Montenegro, delivered “Projections,” a superb, hypnotizing techno track built on a powerful, driving bassline. Adultnapper, also known as Francis Harris from Brooklyn, NYC, and known for his work on Matter/:Form, Intrinsic, and Sunshine, contributed “Choose,” a clanking track driven by a manic synth melody. Martinez (Out of Orbit) added a dry, groovy piece with tight rhythmic construction.
