Listen "Vinegar & Free Will"
Episode Synopsis
📜✨ NEW SONG: “Vinegar & the Soul” — The Cooking-Theology Lesson Your Free Will Has Been Begging For
Every generation invents a new way to dodge responsibility…
a new way to say, “Hey, that wasn’t me — that was my circumstances, my emotions, my trauma, my wiring, my destiny, my horoscope, my moon sign…”
And every generation the Church quietly replies:
“Yeah… no. You still chose it.”
Because somewhere along the way, we stopped talking about free will
and started treating the human soul like an accidental chemistry experiment.
Which is exactly why this new track opens with a friend who dumps vinegar into baking soda,
watches it explode all over the counter,
and then says with a straight face:
“See? It just… happened.”
No, it didn’t.
You caused it.
You mixed the ingredients.
Actions have reactions —
in kitchens and in souls.
But our culture loves the dodge:
“I couldn’t help it.”
“It’s just who I am.”
“God made me this way.”
“As long as I didn’t mean to sin, it doesn’t count.”
“My choices are… complicated.”
Meanwhile Scripture keeps saying the quiet part loudly:
You are responsible.
You are capable.
You are free.
And because you are free,
your choices actually matter.
This song is a pushback against the spiritual chemistry-set excuses —
the idea that sin is automatic,
holiness is optional,
and human agency is a myth.
Because the truth is simple:
If God didn’t give you real freedom,
He couldn’t ask you to love Him.
If you weren’t capable of choosing,
you wouldn’t be capable of worship.
And if your actions weren’t your own,
Judgment Day would be a cosmic farce.
🎶 “Vinegar & the Soul: A Cooking Theology of Free Will”
— a track for the people who know that the moral life isn’t an accident,
that explosions don’t “just happen,”
and that holiness requires the one ingredient you can’t outsource:
your choice.
