Summary
The Jerusalem leadership has failed to lift up God’s ideal. Jerusalem is crumbling morally. Isaiah describes it like a woman who has dressed herself up and made herself look good but she is doing terrible and wrong things. In the end her true identity will be revealed and she will be revealed for what she is truly like.

God
God does not endorse corruption. No matter how much we may hide our wrong habits under the guise of goodness - God sees it. God will not allow evil to go unchecked. God’s purity here shows that the evil of this world does not originate with God, nor is it encouraged by God. God sets a limit and will fight for those who have been oppressed.

Gospel
It is good news that Jesus is the true Leader deserving of our allegiance. The failed leaders of chapter 3 creates in the heart a yearning for Jesus who leads not a city but the entire universe. Jesus sits on the throne, at the right hand of the Father in heaven. He deserves to lead and to govern because his leadership is with justice and goodness. He is the King who deserves to lead us.
