Repentance is the door that unlocks you from the bondage of sin, and the first act of repentance is salvation — the first real turning from sin to salvation through Jesus. Repentance then leads to baptism, a first act of obedience, that shows you are dead to self and alive in Christ. Acts of obedience release power in our lives through the Holy Spirit that activate a new place of freedom from bondage.
