These top young sportsmen are so passionate about the outdoors life and being active that being educators is a natural path. Leo Magri)Meet Nico Fox and Sean ButlerSean and Nico are passionate about sports, health and the outdoors to the point that guiding and educating the new generation comes first as a motivator, then a responsibility. Nico is a rugby referee. He spent his childhood playing rugby from rippa in Thames in a supportive whanau of five. He grew up playing many different sports and always loved the outdoors. With an early appreciation for leadership, Nico decided to be a teacher the day university applications closed. He wanted to be a policeman but never liked the “blood, bones or death”, so he followed his mum's footsteps.Sean Butler was born in Hot Water Beach. He completed an outdoor education degree in Christchurch during the earthquakes in 2011.For three years, Sean followed the seasons to do outdoor work: Sea kayak guiding in summer, snowboard instruction and terrain park building in the snow. Back home, he started a surf school that has been on for seven years. Sean did three years as a builder during the winters, then eventually post-graduated, which gave him a job at the kura he was once a student, Mercury Bay Area School. Sean has recently enjoyed the challenge of adventure therapy with his local youth. ALTBAYS Show invites awesome people to have an honest, laid-back conversation.
