After a particularly brutal full moon transformation, Remus recovers in the hospital wing where Professor Ferox visits and cryptically tells him to "know thyself." The marauders reveal their secret animagus research project, proposing to become animals to keep Remus company during transformations and prevent his self-harm. Despite their extensive preparation and genuine desire to help, Remus ultimately refuses their dangerous plan, prioritizing their safety over his own loneliness.
