Episode Synopsis "Chain Mix - October 2012"
I first started these types of mixes/playlists a couple years back. At a particular event, I was asked to DJ for forty-five minutes. I asked what genre they wanted, and they said "Whatever you want." So I decided to see how much ground I could cover within that timeframe. I jumped from folk to metal to Celtic to funk and back again, but attempted to make all the segues make "sense". I called it a "chain mix" because each song linked with the ones before and after it, but didn't have anything to do with any of the other ones. It apparently worked - people really liked it. This particular chain mix was done after I was asked for a 30-minute mix CD for a party. I decided with that limited amount of time, I had to make the "links" smaller. Every minute or so, I jump off from what I'm playing and start into something else. I didn't play anything too "hard" (electronic, metal, industrial) because I didn't think it would've worked for the party, but other than that, this "chain" covers a fair amount of ground.
