Listen "Understand A New Identity - Conversation with Chris from Los Angeles (pt III)"
Episode Synopsis
In the final installment of our conversation, Chris talks about how it was unfair for the regular members of the church to struggle financially while leaders in the church lived in posh neighborhoods off of the backs of the membership. Oddly enough, Chris talks about how being in the ministry had taken away his confidence. One would not think that to be the case, but Chris explains to us how that happened. Despite this, Chris talks about some of the positives that he learned while in the full time ministry. Chris talks about getting married in the church. Chris talks about having to work through his marraige. He mentions that he had to work to keep the church out of his marraige in order for it to work. Chris describes the tail end of his time with the church. He talks about communicating with the leadership about his concerns with the church. However, the ledership felt justified in their methods because the church was growing in number and therefore dismissed his concerns. After spending over a decade with the organization, Chris finally made the decision to leave. He explains to us how that came about. When asked if he thinks the ICOC is a cult, Chris says “it’s absolutely a cult.” Support the showStay updated on Aldo's current and future projects by signing up for his NewsletterOther Podcasts by Aldo B.
