Listen "To Yourself, Be True - Conversation with Tammy from New York (pt III)"
Episode Synopsis
This is the third and final segment of our conversation with Tammy. Tammy suggests that those members that were seen as “struggling” and a burden to the church were just being punished for being their most authentic selves. Tammy did not want to get kicked out of the church because this enviroment was her comfort zone for a decade and admits to going through a period of grief upon being outsted. Tammy discusses the specifics on why she was removed from the organization. Tammy talks about the power and control dynamic that exists within relationships that are domestically violent or abusive and how these same dynamics exist within the relationship that some members have with the organization. She suggests that the use of isolation is used in both instances. This not to suggest that all members experience such. Tammy is then asked if she views this organization as a cult or not.
