Mayhew Seavey is a 68-year-old electrical engineering consultant in the metro Boston area. Together with his wife, retired publications editor Victoria Thatcher, he cofounded the Hager Homestead cohousing community in 2016 as a way for them to have the kind of supportive community that they wanted for themselves as they grew older. Nothing in his personal or professional life prepared him for the challenges of creating an intentional community of 24 households, what will become the first over-55 cohousing in New England.
