Terri King is a commercial real estate broker who opened her firm for business in January closed a near millon-dollar transaction in the heart of downtown Atlanta Friday, her first commercial deal as a brokerage owner. “When I'm thinking about a neighborhood, and I'm thinking about filling a space,” said Terri King of Terri King Commercial. “I think about who lives there, who works there, what does this community need, what kind of use would be beneficial to this community and who wants to be here?”King marketed The Metropolitan after opening her brokerage in January and sold it threeweeks later to an African-American cash buyer. The seller is a Canadian of Asian heritage.King has launched “Your First 97 Days in Commercial Real Estate,” a course geared towardnewly-licensed professionals and others wanting to transition into commercial real estate. Thecourse is meant to help agents kickstart a successful commercial real estate career. “ your first97 days in Commercial Real Estate“ covers topics such as marketing properties effectively, andhow to find a brokerage that will support their commercial real estate career path.“Providing support to professionals seeking entry into commercial real estate is critical for themto thrive”, said King, who switched commercial brokerages at least five times before finding afirm willing to teach her the trade.Her love of commercial real estate stems from managing renovations for corporate andnonprofit offices. King also served as a director of commercial real estate for other brokeragefirms. She’s also the director of commercial real estate for the Atlanta Black Chambers.
