I sit daily at my funeral. There are many days the funeral consists of poorly rehearsed praises, stale sandwiches and hysterical tears. However, each day I attend my funeral and encounter my death, the more the funeral turns into a celebration of the loss of myself. The most important thing I’ve lost in my life, is my life. I am learning to take joy in that. A stranger once told me that I would have to die to live again. That stranger is no longer a stranger, but a dear friend— His name is Jesus. He has helped me to lose myself. It is then that the loss of life can be traded for a life more abundant. Almost simultaneously, as I sit at my funeral daily, I witness my resurrection. This is a resurrection journey for the body of Christ—won’t you rise with me?
